Along with Bishop Northrop and Reverend Patrick Duffy, the St. Patrick's Benevolent Society in Charleston sent appeals to Catholics throughout the nation asking for donations. The Archdiocese of Baltimore sent $7,000 and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia contributed $15,000 to assist the Diocese of Charleston with their rebuilding efforts.
